Body Dysmorphic
Disorder
People with Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) struggle to control their negative
thoughts regarding their physical appearance. These thoughts may cause severe
emotional distress and may begin to interfere with daily functioning. This may result
in issues relative to work or school and social problems with family and friends.
Those affected may undergo unnecessary plastic surgeries to correct perceived
imperfections.
People who suffer with BDD present compulsive or repetitive behaviors and will,
most likely, attempt to hide what they believe are flaws.
